Fondly called as  Murthyji.  I  have been associated with him for more than four decades. An amazing musician with multi faceted skills.Music Director.Vocalist.Flautist.,Percussionist, Nama Sankeertana exponent, Carnatic pianist, Lyricist,.also an actor director in stage plays. I was always amazed at his simplicity in spite of amazing/outstanding  talents. He is a contemporary vaggeyakara .Have composed more than 500 songs in Sanskrit and Tamilzh. His first book of 100 compositions entitled NRITYA SANGEETA KEERTHANA comprising of varnams,.,swarajathis ktitis,padams and tillanas is  a rich treasure  and was released in Aug 23. It is a proud moment for all of us that his second book of 100 compositions is being released now. It will surely be a rich treasure for the entire music fraternity as a whole Wishing him all the best in all his future endeavours and waiting for many mare such treasure

Though I have known Moorthy for long time, it was in 2020 that I was exposed to his way of breathing Music. He is not just another composer or musician. His creativity comes from his heart,  not brain. The lyrics (words), raga & thala becomes his best buddies when it comes to his composition. The swaras and aksharas join  hands at  every possible opportunity. All his compositions are unique in many aspects. It was the Dhanyasi composition on Lord Rama that I came across in 2020 through his Facebook post that made me arrive at the above summary of his capabilities. Apart from composing, singing, orchestration and producing records/books, Moorthy's notable effort was to bring other composers/vaggeyakara's to light. I am one of  the recipients of such an opportunity. I really appreciate Moorthy's untiring effort in encouraging other musical creations. I wish him all the best.

I would like to share that every class of PSK Guriji is one divine experience.  He brings divinity in class thereby instilling a great devotion in our singing as well as quest for the experiment he would have used in his compositions . Guriji has a bouquet of compositions for pamars till most experienced senior vidwans/vidushis. Some of the tana varnams are very vibrant , innovative and devoted. There is a one composition by Guruji which is navaneetha chora chaaru sundara on Krishna. While the words here describe navaneetha Krishna who is a navarasa bharitha sundara krishna as well as the universal leader, the rhythm of this competition is like aswa dhaati , which gives us a feeling as if we are riding on a horse cart to have a darshan of Krishna. Similarly, another composition, which is on Ayodhya Rama, in mohana ragam makes us visualize Rama standing tall with his bow. It is my bhagyam to have known Guruji and every minute with him is a great learning from his enormous musical journey.

Entha Muddo, a composition in the enchanting Bindumalini ragam, was taught by Sir with unparalleled grace and meticulous attention to detail. His deep understanding of the nuances of the ragam brought out its ethereal beauty, as he patiently guided each note and phrase with precision. With gentle encouragement and unwavering dedication, Sir instilled not just the technical aspects of the composition but also its emotional depth, allowing us students to truly connect with the essence of the raga. The best part is when he explains the meaning of the lyrics with that sparkle in his eyes. And also the various sangatis that flow so spontaneously, leaving all of us awestruck!!!

Firstly it is a great honor and blessing to be associated with PSK sir, a musical genius and a kind hearted musician. I got introduced to PSK sir during Covid when sir introduced a course called Innovative Carnatic. At the beginning, I was very skeptical to join as I was unsure about how I will face sir as I have very little music knowledge. Sir made the learning so comfortable and focused on various swara patterns in different thaalas, gradually moving to teaching his own beautiful compositions.  One of few iconic compositions that I was blessed to learn from Sir "Sai Namam Divya Naamam" based on Dharmavathi raagam. This sai bhajan is filled with SwaraAksharams. Anupallavi starts with Prati-Madhyam - Ma Karunayin vadivamai / Panchamam - Padagangal ozhikkum Nishadam – Neeti NeRi vazhuvaadhu / Shadjam  - Saayoojya padam aLikkum (Sa)tya (Dha)rma (Sa)nti (P)rema Sai. Similarly there are many other compositions Anbin Uruvame in Malayamarutam, Kodi Kodi yennangal in Bhageshree, Ananda Raama in Hamsavasantham etc. Every class with PSK sir was new, filled with learnings, challenge and explore own abilities.  My heartfelt wishes to PSK sir. I pray to God for his sound health and more and more accolades for his unparalleled music wisdom.

Sri PSK MOORTHY; myself and father Sri Chakyar Rajan have known closely from the mid 80s, since my performances under Guru Sri K.Kalyanadundaram at Sri Rajarajeshwari Kalamandir. He has been adept at several musical instruments and bears an unmatched balance between tradition, innovation and devotion. Regarding him as one of the seniormost Vaggeyakara-s with a special attribute to enrich dance, is perhaps the least a dance teacher could do. It has been and will always be a privilege for me personally to choreograph Sri Moorthy's scripts with sensitivity and admiration. His 108 compositions will be an added asset in the field.

Krishnamoorthy Sir, has been my best guide, friend and guru for the last 3 decades. I am indeed very fortunate to meet this noble, humble, passionate, affectionate person in my life's journey. He is our extended family member. Learning music from Krishna Moorthyji is always wholesome filled with pleasurable moments, he will not only teach the song but explain the swara staanam and notations, with word to word meaning & feel of the song. I really don’t know how to express my gratitude in words. Every song, I have learnt is an unforgettable experience to cherish one can never forget the nuances ever he will teach us to sing the sangathis so effortlessly that I used to admire my own singing.  He has the poorna blessings of Mata Saraswathi Devi undoubtedly in full measure which flows through all his compositions with full of devotion. I sincerely pray for his good health and happiness in full length to God. I look forward to have more such musical experiences from my Sangeeta GnanaSaraswati Puraskar Guruji- Krishnamoorthy. I humbly bow  down to you for giving me this opportunity to pen these few lines from my heart. 

Guruve Sharanam Guruve Sharanam !!! My Revered Guru Namaskaarams to you Sir. It s very difficult to contain in words about the ocean – like talent of my Guru Sri P S Krishnamoorthy. He is a KALAA SAAGARAM. His compositions are very lilting and sweet like that of a sugar-cane. The deity or the Gurus in praise of whom his compositions are created bring out the full characteristics and highlight the features about them. I am indeed fortunate in this life to meet him as My Guru. It s a great quality that he possesses to make even an uninitiated person to believe that they too can sing, thereby encouraging them to sing, and nurturing the music in them. Patience, Peace and alertness are his forte in handling every relation. True to his Musical skills , he also has the knack to make everyone understand in simple terms the Beauty of A Raaga, Phrases, Lyrics or even an idea, in a simple language & terminology. His songs are like a sweet fruit. May his songs become popular in due course and reach nooks n corners of the world. I wish him all the success in his endeavors as a Musician & Vaaggeyakara. His Maata nee irangaayo & Ayyappan song melted my heart. Wishing him Long Healthy Life.

Krishnamoorthy, whom we fondly address as “Murthy Sir” is Music personified. I had the opportunity to learn from him for a very brief period, but the lessons learnt then are a lifetime treasure. Needless to mention he is a world class Carnatic exponent. Yet his unbiased respect and admiration for all styles of music including light Indian film music, western forms, Gazal etc. increased my respect for this Mahaan multifold. Apart from being an amazing composer, the raagams aptly chosen by him for each of his kritis  reveals his intelligence and in-depth knowledge about the raagams. A simpleton by nature and a child at heart, Murthy sir is a great Guru, Composer, Singer and everything under the sky that music can manifest. I wish him success in all his ventures and pray to Goddess Saraswathi for his well-being.

Having personally known P.S Krishnamurthy mama, I've known and always been inspired by his love for creativity in Carnatic Music. Have come across quite a few of his interesting compositions like padams, thillana, mangalam etc. Mama's themes are distinctive. The way he explores the lyrics and ragas in the framework of carnatic music and our shastras is a must watch for every student of Indian Classical dance and music. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to choreograph one of his compositions in Ragam Alankarapriya.  This composition of mama is very rare and unique in itself as it is set in one of the most mystic ragas, thereby deeply justifying the lyrics that represent aspects of spiritual philosophy in the chronological order of 1-10 penned very meaningfully with each line connected to the next. It was a pleasure to have worked on this composition of mama, composed, penned and sung by himself. It is indeed a wonderful creative exploration, learning and experience to work on mama's unique compositions and I look forward to choreographing and presenting more of his works in the future.

Gurukulam sessions were hosted by Vageyyakara Shri PSK ji, during Covid, on every sunday morning. This was a forum wherein there was selfless exchange of knowledge by the various Bhajan/Kriti composers from different parts of India. The main host PSK ji, despite his various other commitments, made sure to sit through the sessions and present his expert observations and explanations on the various aspects of the songs like the lyrics, the raga, the thala and the bhava. He also used to share and teach his compositions, which he does in different genres of Indian classical music. One such composition is the bhajan " Ananda Rama Ayodhya Rama...". This bhajan is based on ragam "Hamsa Vasantham". The ragam is also devised by PSK ji. I had heard this bhajan from one of his earlier albums and had been singing this bhajan thinking it was based on raag Basant, not knowing the minute positioning of the swaras in the beautiful composition. In one of the sessions he explained that he had based it on the Carnatic ragas Vasantha and Hamsanandi. Such a beautiful blend of two ragas, the lyrics and the divine rendition of the composition in his golden voice, is etched in my heart. There are many such compositions that are gems given by him to the music and dance world. He is a true devotee of the Lord and has HIS full blessings, that also radiates in his compositions. We pray to the Lord to give him good health and long life and that he continues to produce such wonderful gems and share it with the world.

My residence is 3km from Sir’s residence in Brindavan Colony, but I happened to go all the way to Perla to get his contact details and approach him for music lessons. I had lost touch with singing and the art that had gone on the backburner for many years while I was chasing my professional dreams. Instead of making me start from foundation classes, he helped me rediscover the joy of music and singing. He makes sure that the raga bhava, the grammar of the raga, and the laya are maintained but without being overtly conscious and troubled – this is what makes Carnatic classical a deterrent for many. When I enter his house with so many books of composers, musical instruments, and the drone of the shruti, I feel at ease. I would find him engrossed and pondering over compositions of some legend – Suddhananda Bharati, Bharitiyar, Purandaradasar..etc. He would then engage me in discussing or exploring this mood or compositions of that day. After a one-hour class, I come back feeling delighted that I can learn, appreciate, and attempt to sing this fabulous classical art form. Another reason that I would forever be grateful is when I decided to give a natyam performance at Ayyappa temple and told him that it would be my last performance and association with Bharatanatyam. He smiled and told me that would never be true for art: there would be ebbs and flows, but the art will always find a way back and relevance in one’s life. True enough!!! I was unemployed for a year, and during that time, I got a remarkable opportunity to teach Bharatanatyam. It was a refreshing time and a cherished memory now. How can I forget the pandemic lockdowns? I am grateful for the online classes that he taught and the experience of learning with his other shishyas kept me positive in the company of the trinities and bountiful ragas. "Thank you, SIR. AumSriSaiRam . My namaskarams to all Rasikàs. Shabd (words) & Shabd (sound) meet Vàggeyakàra Shri P S Krishnamoorthy an enchanting, meaningful musical bang happens just like the world over resonating sound ॐ is formed.  I always see Shri Moorthi Anna as Saraswati Amsam. All his compositions are based on ràgàs, ràgamàlikàs with apt meanings to gel well with when the same is sung as prescribed, as sung by Shri Moorthi anna.  Vanamali RadhaRamana Giridhari Govinda in PoorviKalàni ragam which was born in 1982 is sung by all Bhagavathas, Kirthankàrs and all Bhakthas world over. Another one the RàgaMàlika on Sri Sri Sri MahaPeriyava - Parameshwara Avatàrà is another gem. The meaning of each and every word is connected to all living beings with MahaPeriyava. And the list goes on and on, an endless creation by Shri Moorthi Anna my Guru, my Bhratha, my Sakha and my everything ! And one that none can miss is that the Swaràkshara prayogam in many compositions of Shri Moorthi Anna adds brilliance to the music when rendered aptly by understanding the same. While it is to say I hereby belittle myself to write about the musical extravaganza created by Shri Moorthi Anna I am fortunate to submit this humble forward, more than experiencing the music, living the music. My prayers to Bhagawan for showering His choicest graceful blessings on Shri Moorthi Anna with long healthy & wealthy life blend with spiritual springs happiness joy and peace.

Namaskaram PSK Sir, Truly a delight - to hear & dance to Mama’s lyrics. Jayalakshmi Anand Dear PSK mama They say that expertise shows not in effort but effortlessness. His divine gift is to blend laya, raga, sahitya and Natya gnana to provide pieces that with recitation itself goad artists to dance to them. They range in simple to esoteric themes, using the classical techniques of grammar and conjunctions that allow space for creative interpretation and exploration. Be it his Kamakshi shabdam, Nayaka varnams for male dancers, Keertanas in rare Ragams like Nagaswaravali or Lilting Tamil Padams are truly delightful to perform and enjoy as students, teachers, performers and Rasikas. I have had a good bhāgyam of listening to Shri P.S.Krishnamurthy’s compositions in many occasions. A few of them while chatting away as friends, a few when my daughter Arushi Ramesh accompanied him a couple of times , and one , when I got to learn and perform his  Kalyani Varnam. A noteworthy feature of this varnam is , it has ample swarākshara passages, filled with rāgā bhāvā.  His compositions are a mixture of very unique sāhitya structure, weaved in rare rāgās . They instantly transfer the listener to a realm of bhakti and melody. A very recent experience of listening to the beautiful composition in Neelamani- ‘Neelamani mālai mārbā ( with only Tānpura and no other instruments accompanying)rendered by him was magical. The brief chittaswaram and swara sahitya with swarāksharams are a mark of a true vāggeyakārā.

This was during the pandemic days where we had limited resources but endless possibilities. It was a truly enriching experience for me to be able to explore the rich sahitya and mellifluous music of the composition along with the new medium of performing to a phone camera. Sending my best wishes towards another endeavour of sir which will be coming in the form of this book that will be beneficial to many artists at large.”

My journey with Krishnamoorthi Sir has been nothing short of magical. PSK Sir, a musician unparalleled, has a gift for transcending the ordinary and elevating musical experiences to extraordinary heights. His compositions, divine and melodious, had the power to transport us into a trance-like state, where the beauty of music unfolded in its purest form. Moorthi Sir, with his remarkable skill, simplified the nuances of ragas, opening the door to the profound beauty of classical music for common enthusiasts. As I reflect on my musical voyage with PSK Sir, I can't help but feel immense gratitude for the lessons, the melodies, and the moments of sheer musical bliss. This is the first time in Carnatic Music history that a composer's work is about to get released in a book format and on a website. P S Krishnamoorthy ,who is also famous by the name of PSK – has music embedded in this P for padam S for swarams K for kritis/ keertanams I am indeed blessed by almighty ' s grace to learn music from PSK Sir and be a student in his gurukulam. Each kriti written & composed and sung during the musical sessions are a Gem in its own right for, the every composition stands out as an epitome of literary richness. The poetical words synchronizing with alliterations & solpha names without losing meaning by itself becomes the medium to reach every soul that listens. Moreover the melody and rhythmic variations selected for every song sounds very appropriate adding value to the core contents of the song. “108 compositions of PSKrishnamoorthy” the effortless effort put in by the Maestro is finally releasing on 10th February, 2024 at ARKAY Centre, Chennai shall be a fragrant bouquet to amply demonstrate the inner strength of his soul dedicated towards Music & the equivalent energy filled with Devotion towards Almighty. I would like to mention a kriti in the ragam neelamani on Lord Guruvayoorappan describes few important rituals happening at Guruvayoor temple. The caparisoned elephant procession along with women folk carrying flowers, lamp, sweets, the Utsava moorthy carried by the chief priest atop the tallest caparisoned Elephant are very beautifully and aptly depicted in the 4 lines of charanam along with chittaswarams. The bhakta singing this song would surely feel his presence in Guruvayur itself. Such is the magic this song and many more written and musically tuned and sung in his Voice. The list to speak about his kritis would be endless...as he still keeps writing new compositions…he might be composing one more as we keep reading this article. To sum up in one line to me - He remains a musical genius endowed with a treasure of knowledge ready to offer to dedicated students with an yearning to learn more in music. My koti pranamams to my Guru Psk Sir….. Wishing him an extraordinary successful musical journey for many many more years, & praying for many more Awards & accolades for his unsurpassed talents in Literal, Musical, Vocal, Instrumental & Theatrical endeavors.

My favourite Bhava-Laden Bhageshri, one of his masterpieces, brimming with Bhakti, lilting lyrics and catchy chittaswaram. This song lends itself to different styles of singing, and bears testimony to the uniqueness in Shri. P.S.K Sir’s compositions.
